Undergraduate Program

KU's Engineering Physics program is jointly administered through the School of Engineering and the Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The program offers a B.S. degree in engineering physics with opportunities to pursue one of four design options: Aerospace Systems, Chemical Systems, Digital Electronic Systems, and Electromechanical Control Systems.

Our undergraduate degree program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Degree programs that receive accreditation have undergone an exhaustive peer review of their program to assure they meet and exceed certain standards.

Accreditation serves many purposes including:

  • Assuring students and parents of the degree program's quality
  • Enabling employers to recruit graduates who are well-prepared
  • Giving university faculty a means to evaluate the quality of their program and wherever possible institute improvements
  • Assuring taxpayers, donors and other stakeholders that their funds are well utilized.

The Engineering Physics degree program shares the mission of the University of Kansas School of Engineering — to give our students a high quality educational experience; to generate and apply knowledge through research, development, and scholarly activity; and to serve society, the state of Kansas, and the engineering profession.
